This may be the last post of the year, in order to say that i learned a lot this year, i feel so grateful in several ways, not just for the thing i get or achieve but also for things i didn't... For sure this is not a whining post, i rather find thing to be grateful than mocking myself (and that will be an easy way to bully myself..) should i count my blessings? or make a list of thing i did? Let's go straight to some of those... -I finally know (less or more..) how to sew a zipper! YaaY! with lots of tutorials, books and else, quite different when you are in front of the sewing machine -I did a great improvement learning french.. i'm quite stubborn -Believe it or not, i read more books than the last year! (2 that i bought in the book fair, and it wasn't a child's book :D ) -Have you seen scandinavian films? by far, i stared to be big fan of it! you better watch some foreign cinema, you won't regret missing hollywood films... -After some several months (or maybe a year...) i finished 3 of 4 paintings! i'm planning to start a new ones next year... -Did i already mention my instagram account?, is fun, is cool... but i totally refuse a twitter account! -Guilty as charge for having a pastel crush.. (need to embrace that colors, even when i feel a total beatnik...) some day i'll paint with those colors.. -Learning that creative process is not something to rush on, but to work and investigate -Last but not less, i finally get my degree! yasssss!!!
This year is almost gone, i cannot say if is one of my fav years or not (considering that David Bowie died at the begining of the year.... snif!) still, of course, sometimes i can't remember if i achieve of my goals, because, i can't remember most of them... anyway, before to say good-bye to this year, a quick round of Etsy Finds! It was a quick and busy days, my brother and i went to fast visit to CdMx and even when we didn't went to visit some museums or other places, i've got to say that i totally enjoyed having such a great time with my brother! in some way, we been apart not because we decided to be like that but our jobs, lives and else, and yes! we hang out and get along often, with our partners or with our family, but in some way, me and him are so closed and had so much things in common, guess like other brother and sister's had, but since we were kids we used to play along, had lots of friends in common... but well, i may probably loosing my point in this post... After 2 trippy and bussy days in an Artist and independent crafter's bazaar, we did a quick stop by with a friend of Alfredo... Johnny and his partner Carlos lives in a small and cute apt, that since the first time i saw it, it was pure eye candy to me! If i can, if i would i may probably had something like this for my place, but, my hubby doesn't agree much with so colorful and kitschy things around home, and actually, i do like to decorate my place according to my paintings... still, secretly, i've got big crush for orange, pinks, yellow and vivid and bright colors... guess i should put some on my paint and forget the blues
First, i've got to say that i feel totally great with myself! at the middle of the year i was so pressure to find a co-worker for my workshop... and could be not so difficult except that... i'm so picky! i'm not gonna work with someone who doesn't make a great team with me, also, someone who can love work with kids with patience but be with character (kids can smell fear and insecure.. :P) My last co-worker was just beyond than great, we can laugh and we can understand the group and each other with just a sight... So yes, i heard a loooot of people who recommend another persons but in this case, i've got the chance to work with someone that i can totally get along.. And well, wasn't so easy but, one of my oldest friend (she's from college..) was my partner in crime and we did pretty well and pretty awesome! there's no way to compare, i totally like to work with both and i guess i see our work reflected on child's smiles.. I worked with kids from 7 to 9 years old, i even worked with youngest kids but, i realized when they been there, before i already know... Still! you may probably think that work with paint and kids it could be for sure a messy disaster, well, it can be but if you explain everything before to drop the material the mess can be avoided (in some cases... still my shoes had zero paint on it! YeSSSS!) Here's a quick snapshots of my workshop PS: i barely could buy some books for me but, tsssssss i already read one of the books that i purchased... oh dear!
I was counting down days, because the book fair is almost here, and yup! i already got a workshop... i'm so thrilled about what to expect but also that for sure it will be tons of hard work! For a hard day, i'll be working with 300 kids at day, but is hard to say if it will be like that all the book fair... and because i'll be using my voice all the time, i already got a nice parcel of medicine, herbs, teas and everything that would help to not loose my voice or be talking like Vito Corleone... and it that parcel i may probably put some shots of vitamins I'm taking my job seriously, i want to avoid any type of flu, cold or whatever that can put me on bed with high fever because, of course, after working with lots of kids is something sure... they can also infected me, and i don't have high defenses as them... So, i'm gonna chill, do my best as always and just have fun on this... I'll be counting down the days..
I've been working with small group of girl, they had like 11 years old and is been a fun classes... the first classes was just the hard part because of course, they want to start with the paint but, well they need to know the basic on drawings which is the "boring part" all of them want to use paint and colors, because well, colors are just fun... I can't say how long i've been working with them but for sure like 8 months... Now they are using acrylic paint, sometimes they also paint their faces (i guess is part of their fun..) but after all they been doing great work...
I used to work some years ago with a dancer, she was a contemporary dancer... i must to say that i've must to update myself for that job, like read tons of articles and books because i have no idea, besides i was so sure that my boss will be so pleased of it, besides of that, was also because i want to understand and learn more about dance (i'm not quite a good dancer, the "just dance" game in wii could be totally perfect for me...) and being in a theatre, preparing the stage and lights, knowing all the workers there was just an experience... that was like 8 years ago, maybe not just a few years :) Recently i received a call of one of my besties, according to my boyfriend and other people, he is the youngest and the best composer in town, he could be one of the best composers in México, he work on theatre companies, also he is a great teacher... well he called me one day at night, his company was on a big trouble because their technical creative was kinda a mess, he left all the puppet and the rest of the production in progress when the opening of their play will be just in 5 days.... and here is where i stared, i'll continued the rest of the production, finishing the paper puppets and the rest of the stage, i thought i could finish like in 3 days but seriously? just a few hours of the premiere i was still painting... This are a few shots of it, i would love to take more pics but well, if i tell you that i worked 56 hours will you believe me? because it was like that... from 8 or 9am to 1 am it was hell but it was fun!
